IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard D.
Greenaway
January 20, 1935 – November 17, 2024
Richard D. Greenaway graduated high school in 1953 from Turtle Creek High School in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania. He volunteered for after school activities involving news staff, drama, band, and baseball.
Growing up in Wilkins Township, Pennsylvania, he wanted to become an engineer after high school, which led him to join the Air Force in 1954. This is how he met the love of his life, Jeannette Greenaway, while stationed in England. They were married 59 years before she passed away on March 13, 2017.
During their time together, while Richard was in the military, they traveled overseas and back to the United States, then had two sons: Bob and Andy. They finally settled in Lompoc, California.
Richard worked at the tracking station while he served at Vandenberg Air Force Base, and after retiring he continued working at the tracking station with Lockheed Martin.
Richard and Jeannette lived out their lives in Lompoc. While Bob and Andy grew up, Richard and Jeannette were actively involved in their schools, with Richard being the PTA President and lending a hand serving lunches, book sales and other functions. Richard and Jeannette were involved in their kids' sports. Richard coached and ran the concession stand along with Jeannette.
Richard loved sports and became an avid bowler. He became President and Secretary of the Northern Santa Barbarba County Bowling Association. He also played softball and cards with his family and friends. He ended up working at Surf Lanes Bowling Alley for 30 years at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
Richard was an avid fan of Pennsylvania sports: Baseball, Hockey and Football. He even got his wife to watch football!
