An Aloha Celebration of life for Richard Francis O'Connell, 77, of Lompoc will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 12:00 noon in River Park with a Potluck.

He made his transition on Sunday, May 15, 11 at Lompoc Hospital. Dick was born May 9, 1934 in Port Leyden, NY to Frank and Margarettta O'Connell. His parents, his sister Betty Stahlberger and his only son Richard proceeded him in death. He leaves his wife Elizabeth and two daughters, Marie(Don) Witt of Yackima, Washington and Tracy O'Connell of Springfield Ohio and 3 grandchildren. Sister-in-law Barbara Wright of Arroyo Grande, Nieces Terri Wright of San Luis Obispo and Jeanne Buchanan and family of Fresno.

Dick served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict 1952-1960. He then attended Syracus University.
Dick and his wife Elizabeth celebrated their 36 wedding anniversary in April. They have lived in Lompoc since 1996. Dick retired as a National Sales Manager. He loved to travel both for work and pleasure. His favorite vacation spot was Hawaii. His favorite trip was in 1992 to his homeland of Ireland. Dick was a descendent of Daniel O'Connell the Irish Poor Man's King. Dick had traveled to 49 states missing Alaska.

His family will walk in Dick's honor at the Relay for Life San Luis Obispo on June 25th. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Relay for Life, 1540 West Branch Arroyo Grande, CA 93420.(In Memory of Richard/Dick O'Connell)
