Richard G. Olivera, 91, of Lompoc, was born September 19, 1914 in Lompoc to James B and Susie Martinez Olivera, Sr.
Richard was a World War II U.S. Army veteran from 1941 to 1945 serving in the European Theater. During the landing on D-Day, he was wounded and received the Purple Heart.
Richard passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Lompoc Hospital.
Survivors include his nieces, Lucille Begg Grossini and Aileen Olivera Miller and a nephew, James B. Olivera III. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Frederickson, sister, Mary Begg and brothers, James B. Olivera, Jr. and Raymond Olivera.
Private family services will be held at Lompoc Cemetery under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
