Richard Lloyd Osborn "Ozzie" passed this September 11, 2013 after a lengthy, hard fought battle of illness.
He was born in Adair, Oklahoma on May 30, 1943 to a loving family. Roy and Mable Opal Jones, his parents, had a total of seven children. Richard is the first to pass of his brothers and sisters. All were able to travel to be with him during his illness. He was loved dearly.
Richard proudly left Oklahoma to travel the world with the United States Navy. It was his honor to serve from 1962-1966. Settling in Lompoc, he married Beverly Hanson in 1964. From that union were 3 children. Rick Osborn, Renee Bengford and Shelly Zachry and his special girl, Sharon Hanson. Upon his retirement in 1986 he returned to Oklahoma and married his beloved wife Judy. He was loved by his three step children Edie Hopper, Sarah Burnett and Cody Burnett, 21 grandchildren , numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
His greatest enjoyments were his dogs Paco and Pablo. He also enjoyed camping with the Moose and Elks camping clubs, playing horseshoes, fishing, bowling, coaching and being a member of the American Legion Bill Proud Post 211, Elks Lodge #2274 of Lompoc and a member at large of the Loyal Order of Moose. Although later years found him not as socially active as he once was, his amazing friends continued to reach out to him. He touched so many lives with his wit, humor and giving nature.
Services will be held at Starbuck-Lind Chapel on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2pm with Pastor Joey Robison of North Avenue Baptist Church officiating and Military Honors will be presented. Granting his wishes he will be buried at sea.
