Rick W. Horne of Lompoc passed away Monday, December 25, in Santa Barbara at the age of 53.
Rick was born October 17, 1953 to Richard and Darlene Horne at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. His family came to Lompoc in 1964 and he graduated from Cabrillo High School in Lompoc with the class of 1971. He attended college at Ohio State, and Tucson, Arizona and for the last ten years he has been employed in the service department of Graham Chevrolet in Santa Barbara.
Rick was a member of a bowling league in Lompoc and he enjoyed Friday night poker games. He loved spending time with his daughter, especially camping and attending concerts at the Santa Barbara Bowl.
He is survived by his mother Darlene Horne of Lompoc; son, Brian Van Wie of Lompoc; daughter, April Horne of Lompoc; sisters, Susan Schwartz of Fountain Valley and Diana Stone of Denver, Colorado; former spouse Angela Horne of Lompoc and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Horne in 2005 and his sister Donna Horne in 1992.
A graveside funeral service will be on Friday, December 29, at 3:00 pm at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. The memorial service will be on Saturday, December 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 624 East Camino Colegio, in Santa Maria. Memorial donations may be made to a scholarship fund for his daughter at any branch of Santa Barbara Bank and Trust.
