The vigil service for Rita Martin Gonzalez, 96, formerly of Lompoc, will be 6 pm, Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Friday, August 11, 2023, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church.  Burial to follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

Rita was born May 2, 1927, in Jalisco, Mexico to Pedro and Juanita Sandoval Martin.  She moved to Lompoc as a young wife and mother.  Rita built her career as a master seamstress working for several businesses in Lompoc.  After retiring, Rita and her husband, David, traveled to numerous countries and made memories she looked back on fondly throughout the remainder of her life.  She loved cooking, tending to her garden, knitting/crocheting, creating with her hands, and most of all she loved her family and doing everything with and for them.

She passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, in San Diego, California.

Survivors are children, Maria deGraaf of Vista, CA, Teresa Gonzalez Bowrin of San Diego, CA, Rita Greco of San Diego, CA, Jim Gonzalez of Carlsbad, CA, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Rita was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation hours will be 4 to 7 pm Thursday at the mortuary.
