Rita F. Walbrown was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts October 15, l917, to Patrick J. and Mary Lally Grealy, both of Ireland. She attended high school and college. She married Oris D. Walbrown August 1, l942, in Falls Church, Virginia and was proud to be the wife of a U. S. Marine Corps officer. She retired after 38 years as a civil service secretary.
Rita was a member of Queen of the Angles Catholic Church, the American Business Women Association, where she was named the woman of the year in 1982, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Half Century Club.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Oris in 1974. The youngest of six children, she was also preceded in death by four sisters and brother, Nora V. Hurley, Marie H. Barrett, Catherine B. Banfield, Anna P. Baxley, and Joseph P. Grealy. Her half brother Emmett K. Grealy also preceded her.
Rita is survived by half brothers and sisters, Patrick J. Grealy of Fairfield, California, Edna F. Gonzales of South San Francisco, Michael J. Grealy of Bellington, Massachusetts, Ruth E. Rich of Vacaville, Loretta M. Yatsko of Lompoc, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 12, from 5 to 8 P.M. with the rosary will be at 7:00 P.M at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by with Monsignor John Fitzgerald at 10:00 A.M on Friday, April 13, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church at 3495 Ruker Road in Mission Hills. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
