Robert E. Barto, born August 24, 1945, was a lifetime Lompoc Resident. Though he traveled at time for work, he always returned to the town he loved. Robert was a graduate of Lompoc High School, class of 1964 and a Vietnam era Army veteran."Bob" was an avid Sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, and horseback riding, but his passion was fishing. He knew all the best fishing spots along his native coast. He and his wife Helen enjoyed many vacation fishing trips together.
Bob was a fun loving guy who loved conversation, a witty joke, and could tell a good story that always brought a smile and a joyful laugh to his family and friends .
Bob was retired from the Glazer Union, and spent the last 13 years as a Building Inspector on the UCSB campus, where he had many close friends.
He is survived by his wife Helen; daughter Jodi (Robert) Rowland; brother Joe (Tania) and Tony (Suellen); grandchildren Randi (Adam); Jake (Michelle); great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also his faithful little dog Sadie, and many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lela, and father Robert R. Barto.
