IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert E.
Harvey, Jr.
July 19, 1941 – March 1, 2024
After a long, full life, Robert E. Harvey Jr. passed away at the age of 82 on the evening of March 1, 2024.
Bob was born to Robert E. Harvey and Vina K. Harvey (née Schwarz) in Los Angeles on July 19, 1941. Although not commonly known, he inherited his mother's skill at arts and crafts, which served him well in his passion for customizing nine Corvettes and three boats.
He followed his father's footsteps and became an officer of the LAPD, eventually attaining the rank of homicide detective.
After being forced to retire as the result of a life-altering neck injury, Bob moved to his favorite place in the world, Lake Tahoe. In his 10 years there, he lived his best life racing boats and met and married his wife of 44 years, Linda (née Cosentino).
In 1987 he finally actually retired to the quiet town of Lompoc, CA. There he spent the remaining 37 years of his life enjoying friendship and camaraderie in the Central Coast Corvettes car club, passionately enjoying rock 'n roll and smooth jazz, camping, and caring for dachshunds and cats with Linda, the love of his life.
He is survived by his sister Kathy and brother-in-law George Aliano, daughters Kathy Hansen, Michele Fairbank, Laura Harvey Walters, son-in-law Dr. Daniel Walters, granddaughters Natasha and Katy, and last but not least, his loving wife Linda.
Bob will be remembered fondly as a funny, enthusiastic, and supportive car lover, music appreciator, beach goer, football watcher, racing aficionado, friend, father, and husband.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 1 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
