Robert B. Hicks passed away Friday, August 25, 2006 at his home in Lompoc at the age of 74.
Bob was born December 28, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Robert and Mary Hicks. He joined the United States Air Force in 1952 and was trained as a communications technician. He retired in 1973 at Vandenberg Air Force Base with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Bob was a member of Saint Mary's Episcopal Church since 1969. He was also an active member of American Legion post 125 and Club Arcturus. He loved jazz music, playing cards and dancing. He enjoyed all sports, especially basketball, football, baseball and golf.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Ruth Hicks; sons, Robert B. Hicks III of Tucson, AZ, Steven B. Hicks of Phoenix, Michael R. Hicks of Phoenix; daughter, Marilyn M. Hicks of Phoenix; grandchildren Robert Hicks of Paris, CA, Jazzmine Hicks of Los Angeles, Camille L. Hicks of Lompoc; and his great granddaughter Tamia Jade Hicks of Los Angeles. He is also survived by his brothers Rowlette Hicks of Michigan, Tyrone Hicks of Michigan, Roderick Hicks of Michigan and Randolph Hicks of California; sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Arnie Judkins of Detroit, and sisters-in-law Elizabeth Hatcher of Lompoc and Irene Hicks of Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ralph, Dennis and Bernerd, and his sisters, Sharon, Marthea and Linda.

A memorial service and interment was held at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in Lompoc on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend S. Mortimer Ward will officiated with military honors offered by the honor guard from Vandenberg Air Force Base.
