IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Dee
Manning
May 29, 1939 – January 13, 2024
In loving memory of Robert Dee Manning, who peacefully journeyed to heaven on January 13, 2024. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Sue, cherished daughter Peggy, beloved son Brad, and four adoring grandchildren—Peggy's sons, Mario and Gino Memoli and Brad's daughter, Hope, and son, Bradley.
Affectionately known as "Bob," he was born on the Apache reservation in Mescalero, NM, on May 29, 1939. Bob's childhood in California led him to graduate from Huntington Beach High School. Furthering his education, he earned degrees from Oregon State University and pursued an MBA at Ball State. Additionally, he explored his passion for winemaking with courses at Allan Hancock.
Bob's diverse interests included playing the clarinet and playing football in high school and college. Bob was a devoted, lifelong fan of the Rams and Dodgers. Bob's passion for racing ignited during high school, eventually reaching its pinnacle in the thrilling days of dragster competitions. He found joy in travel, scuba diving, and appreciating fine wine and cuisine. Above all, he cherished moments spent with close friends and family. Bob's extensive career with John's-Manville and Celite took him across the country.
Throughout his life, Bob held esteemed roles both professionally and, in the community, such as his pivotal role in bringing the downtown Lompoc clock to life during his presidency at the Rotary Club.
Remembered for his quick wit, hearty laugh, warm smile, and tender heart, Bob will be deeply missed.
