Ronald "Ron" I. Ross
Ronald "Ron" I. Ross, 72, of Lompoc, California, peacefully went home to be with his Savior on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Cottage Hospital. Ron was born September 18, 1940 in Jacksonville, FL to Theodor "Ted" Ross and Anne (Dean) Ross. He married his beloved wife, Lois, in 1963. They would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary this year.
Throughout his life he had a passion for music and used his bellowing baritone voice in many church choirs, including Coral Ridge Presbyterian in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and also performed in the opera "I Am The Way" with Jerome Hines of the Metropolitan Opera. In his spare time he enjoyed being a ham radio operator and was a member of ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) for Lompoc Valley. He also enjoyed camping with his family, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Ron was employed as a Senior Analyst at Indyne, Inc., and thoroughly enjoyed his work. He was highly respected by his peers for being very knowledgeable in his field.
He was preceded in death by his father Theodor Nicholas Ross of Asheville, NC who passed away in 1972.
He is survived by his wife Lois and four children Rhonda Ross-Jamison of Santa Maria, CA, Scott Ross of Houston, TX, Eric Ross and Betsy Ross-Phelps of Lompoc, CA, and nine grandchildren, Daniel, Jacob, and Rachel Ross, Jordan and Emily Jamison, Jessica, Joshua and Jillian Phelps, and Madison Ross; his mother Anne Ross and sister Rebecca Ross of Navarre, FL; also nieces Jenny, Haley and Laurie Templin of Alabama; also sons-in-law Richard Jamison and Patrick Phelps.
An informal grave site service will be held at 2:00pm at the Lompoc Cemetery, April 7th. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life at the home of wife, Lois Ross.
