Rosalie (Rosie) Kirkland at the age of 92, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep in Lompoc, California on January 21, 2018.

Rosalie was born on November 14, 1925 to James Alpheus and Rosa Lettie (Brown) Moore in Thomas Oklahoma.  She was the youngest of seven children.  Survivors include her sons; Ricky (Carol J.), James (Kathy), and Dwight (Carol A.) Kirkland.  Grandsons; Clayton (Carli), Shane (Karlie), Derek (Jessica), Chad, Brent Kirkland.  Granddaughters; Rana (David) Krisher, Jade (Ricky) Young.  Great grandchildren; David James, Brittany, Avery, Garrett, Layne, Kade, Pia, Wade, Cole, Jayla, Carter and Camdyn.

Rosalie was proceeded in death by her husband Billy Dee Kirkland in 1982.

Rosalie grew up in Thomas, Oklahoma.  Living to tell stories and being a survivor of the Oklahoma Dust Bowl.  She lived a simple farm life with a work ethic of hard work and honesty.  She was the first of her family to attend high school.  Rosalie graduated in 1944 with only 14 in her class because of WWII taking many of the men.  She became a teacher at the age of 18 and always knew at an early age that she wanted to be an accountant because of her love of math.  She met and after a two-year courtship, married Billy Dee Kirkland on September 20, 1952.  Their life soon filled with owning a soda fountain drug store in Dill City, Oklahoma and raising three boys.  They moved to Lompoc, California in 1966.  Rosalie soon landed a Civil Service job as an accountant at the Federal Prison Bureau (FCI).  Retiring in May 1985 after 27 years of Civil Service.

After retiring and husband passing, Rosie decided to move back to Oklahoma to take care of her older sister.  After her sister's passing, she enjoyed time to explore, travel and visit family.  In 2005, she returned to California to be taken care of by her boys.  Rosie struggled with dementia for over 15 years.

Whether California or Oklahoma, Rosie loved the Lord and made sure her family knew Him too!  She lived, loved, laughed and danced a FULL LIFE!

Funeral service will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Friday, January 26 at 12pm.  Followed by her Celebration of Life at the Lompoc Elks Lodge.

Friends may make donations to any Alzheimer's or Dementia organization of their choice.
