Rosalie G. "Patchie" Miller passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in Lompoc, California. Rosalie was born on February 15, 1923 to Matthew and Marion Drees.
She was born and raised in Red Lake Falls, MN where she met and married the love of her life, Ralph Miller. They were married for 60 years before his passing in 2005. Rosalie was a homemaker and Ralph was a barber. The family moved from Shakopee, Minnesota, settling in Lompoc in 1977, when Ralph began barbing at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
She is survived by four children, Pamela (Adam) Kolkowski of Nipomo, Nannette (Doug) Scudder of Lompoc, Kristopher Miller of Minnesota, and Jacqueline (Steve) Muñoz of Lompoc; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Kristina, Michael, Ashley, Taylor, Michaela, Jake and granddaughter/Godchild, Samantha; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by death by her husband, Ralph and son, John J. Miller.
Rosalie was a 30 year member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary of Post 211 and had attended both La Purisma and Queen of Angels Catholic Churches. She brought her passion for playing the piano to other seniors at the CCC and the Lompoc Lodge by entertaining them with her favorite old tunes and playing "Name That Tune." This brought much joy to her and other seniors in the Lompoc Valley.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 9:45am at the Queen of Angels Catholic Church, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10am, Msgr.Fitzgerald officiating. Services are under the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. www.starbucklind.com
