Obituary

Go forth my faithful spirit. Mrs. Rosalyn Moore Hays has released her spirit to God on December 11, 2019. Her family was blessed to be by her side in the weeks before and during her peaceful passing. She died of complications from heart failure.

Rosalyn was born to Hubert Tipton Moore and Dorothy Pabst Moore in Fairmont, Missouri, on May 13th, 1938. She was one of 7 children, including her twin sister Rosalie. She was an Oblate of St. Benedict with Conception Abbey in Conception, Missouri, since she was 17. Rosalyn Hays and Deacon Charles Hays met in the church choir at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Fairmont, where she sang alto and he sang bass. In 1955, they were married at St. Annes and spent 54 wonderful years together until his passing in 2009 . Rosalyn and Charlie are reunited in Heaven, where her parents and all the loving relatives who passed before her are there to greet her.

A loving matriarch, she brought 9 children into this world, including Charlie Jr., Margaret Mary, and Claire, who preceded her in death. She has 6 devoted daughters, Amy Romberger, Teresa Hain, Katie Marshall, Anna Hawk, Rosalie Hays-Martinez, and Susan Kesselring. Their spouses Chester, Jules, Larry, and Gary were like sons to her. Rosalyn was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 21 great-grandchildren.

After moving to Lompoc, California , she served her community as a CNA at Lompoc Hospital and a volunteer patrol officer for Lompoc Police Department. She was a Catechism teacher at La Purisima and Queen of Angels Catholic Churches and completed Diaconate training with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. A member of the Lompoc Valley Christian Woman's Club, her volunteer work was very important to her. She played major roles in the service groups within her church such as Monica's People, which provided resources for single parents, and The Marthas, which supported those who were grieving.

After her husband's passing, she lived as a hermit nun until she retired to Merrill Gardens in Santa Maria last year. We would like to thank the Merrill Gardens staff who took such loving care of Rosalyn, Central Coast Hospice and the nurses who helped her during her last days at her daughter's home, and the priests who prayed for her soul.
