Rose C Martinez of Lompoc passed away quietly in her sleep in the early hours of Sunday, July 16, 2017. She was 93 years old.

Rose was born in Globe, Arizona August 30, 1923, to Paulicarpio Castro and Clara Duarte (Mendoza). She moved to San Jose, California in the early 1940s. She worked in the cannery industry during World War II and started a family in 1943. In the mid-1950s she moved her family to southern California, settling in the San Bernardino/Riverside area. In 1967, Rose moved to Lompoc where she participated in the annual Flower Festival, helping to set up a food booth sponsored by the Mexican Social Organization. She also helped organize fundraising parties and dances at Lompoc's Veteran's Memorial Building for the Mexican Social Organization. From 1991 to 2011 Rose lived in San Diego, California where she spent much of her time traveling throughout the state visiting family and friends. In 2011, she returned to Lompoc where she remained until her death.

She is survived by her children Henry Dominguez (wife Helen), Rachel Bustillos, Lorraine Macias (husband David), Carol Garcia-Terrones (husband Fidel), Mona Gelow-Stowell (husband Mickey), Eileen Becerra, Rita Dominguez, Vincent Martinez Jr (wife Robyn), Michael Martinez, Celina Martinez and Marie Wales (husband Ronnie). Rose was blessed with 55 grandchildren, 168 great-grandchildren and 53 great-great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband Vincent Martinez, daughters Sylvia Medina, Becky Vegas and son Jesse Dominguez, her parents and stepfather Ysidoro "Lolo" Mendoza.

Public viewing will be held at Starbuck-Lund Mortuary on Thursday, July 20th from 4pm to 7pm with a Rosary at 6pm. Mass will be held at Queen of Angels Church in Mission Hills at 10am Friday, July 21, 2017.
