Rose Cornejo Valadez -Born August 30, 1927, passed away on January 1, 2023, at the age of 95

Rosie, as she was called by her beloved family, was born in San Bernardino, CA., and grew up in Lompoc, CA. Rosie's career began as a meat wrapper in San Luis Obispo. Rosie then worked in many restaurants in Lompoc over the years. El Zarape, Café San Martin, and in her early days at the Rice Bowl.  Later she worked at the Lompoc Convalescent Care Center.

Rosie took care of her special needs son Louie on her own well into her 80's when it then became impossible for her to keep him at home.  She lived alone and loved being independent well into her 90s. She took care of herself and was still driving at 92! Later she lived with her daughter and was taken care of by both daughters until June of this year. She was then moved to Lompoc Skilled Nursing Center. She was always the sweetest and most appreciative of everything that was done for her both at home and while in assisted living.

Rosie was preceded in death by her Parents Jose and Maria Cornejo, son Luis Perez, brother Joe Cornejo, and sisters Betty Heredia, Carmen Medina, Alice Contreras, and Cora Lopez. She is survived by daughters Rosemary Munoz, Reyna DePrater (Vic), brothers Ruben Cornejo, Gilbert Cornejo (Dolores), grandchildren Marisa Munoz, Raymond Munoz (Kirk), Jonathan Mundt, Victor DePrater (Erin), Chris DePrater and great-grandchildren Nadia Mundt, Kylie DePrater and Toby DePrater.

A memorial service for Rosie will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 10 am at Queen of Angels Catholic Church.  Private inurnment will be held at a later date at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
