Obituary

Graveside services for Roy Velasquez, III, 50, of Lompoc, will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

Roy, a native of Lompoc, was born February 6, 1962 to Roy and Rachael Rodriguez Velasquez. He attended local schools and belonged to the Cub Scouts as a young boy. As Roy was growing up, he developed an entrepreneur spirit. His culinary and cooking interests led him in the direction of his first business adventure. He owned and operated the Old Post Office Café that was located in the old part of town originally served as the post office. Over the years, his creative and design talent were a perfect fit for another business venture. Velasquez Stone and Tile located in Maui offered natural stone and tile for custom residential and commercial installations and remodels. Roy also enjoyed life and had many hobbies and interests. However, surfing was his main passion as he was full of the "Aloha Spirit." Other favorite pastimes included drawing, reading, gardening, fishing, antique collecting, spending time at the beach and relaxing with friends and family telling jokes. Over the years, Roy was a well-traveled man and had the opportunity to visit several countries. He was able to fulfill a big dream when he bought and rode his Harley-Davidson Motor Cycle to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.

Roy died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his home.
