Obituary

Roy Stovall, 79, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2012, in St. Peters, Missouri. He was born September 26, 1932, to James and Emma Stovall of Finger, Tennessee.
Roy joined the Army-Air Corp in September 1947, two weeks later on September 18, 1947 the two services split, and he chose to serve with the US Air Force. Early in his career he was stationed at Lakenheath England, where he met his bride of 59 years, Sylvia. Upon returning to the United States they were stationed at Tampa, FL, and in 1958 they came to the Lompoc Valley and Vandenberg AFB. They raised their three daughters here for 12 years, the family then transferred to Minot, North Dakota, followed by a tour in Omaha, Nebraska. They returned to Vandenberg in 1975, in 1980 after serving 33 years, Roy retired as a CMSgt. Roy then joined Lockheed Martin for 14 years before fully retiring in 1994. He held numerous positions on the directing board of the Coast Hills (Vandenberg) F.C.U.

Roy and Sylvia enjoyed their retirement by traveling to many countries, including Australia, New Zealand, parts of Europe, Japan, China and England.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia, his daughters Linda (Dennis), Christina, and Paula (Richard). He is also survived by granddaughters Sylvia (Eric) and Crystal (Josh), two great-granddaughters, his brother Lloyd, his sister Georgia (Robert) and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Memorial service held at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel at 11 a.m. July 21st, 2012. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Organization or any charity of your choosing.
