Rozella Augusta Armor of Lompoc passed away Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 at Lompoc Valley Medical Center. She was 82 years old. She had been suffering with cancer for many months, and although she underwent chemotherapy, she was unable to overcome it.

Mrs. Armor was born June 14, 1929 in Tipton, Kansas and was baptized on June 16, 1929 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. She attended Natoma and Downs High School and received a diploma from Kansas City, Missouri Secretarial School in June, 1948. She later served in the Department of the Army Civilians in Tokyo Ordnance Depot (TOD), Tokyo, Japan from April 1952 - April 1954. She considered her time spent in Japan to be among her fondest memories.

She later worked as a legal secretary for Sinclair Refining Co., where she met Richard Armor, whom she later married on April, 27 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri.


They arrived in Lompoc, CA in 1988 and Rozella become very active in the local community. She volunteered at the Food Pantry for many years and was a member of the Alpha Club, Catholic Daughters of America, and La Purisima Concepcion Catholic Church. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, duplicate bridge, cooking, baking, and bowling.


Surviving are her husband, Richard Armor; daughter, Sandy Armor; son-in-law, Dararith Ourk; four sisters, Doris Hageman, Betty Greif, Phyllis Roskilly, Marilyn Spurgeon; and one brother, LeRoy Hake.

She is proceeded in death by her father, Frank D. Hake; mother, Marie C. Hake; and two brothers, Francis Hake and James Hake.


Rozella's visitation will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Mon. February 20th from 4:00 - 7:00pm, with a Vigil at 5pm. Her funeral will be at La Purisima Concepcion Catholic Church on Tues. February 21st at 10:00am. She will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. www.starbucklind.com
