Obituary
Russell D. Mickey of Lompoc passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the age of 80.
Russell was born July 24, 1926 in Palestine, Illinois. After graduating from Palestine High School he joined the United States Navy. Stationed in San Diego, he served in the Pacific during World War II. After his military service he returned to Illinois where he was hired as a corrections officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In 1972 he was transferred to Lompoc.
Russell was a member of the American Legion Post 211 in Lompoc. He loved to fish and barbeque.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Edith Mickey in 1993 and his son Richard in 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Castillo and his granddaughter Celena Marie Castillo of Lompoc.
At his request no services will be held. Cremation will be followed by private inurnment. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
