Ruth Elaine Daugherty 89 of Lompoc, California, passed away quietly from this earth into her Savior's loving arms on November 15, 2024.

She was born at home in the farmhouse on July 9, 1935, to Howard and Leona (Ball) Bond at Kalvesta (Finney County), Kansas. As a child she attended a one-room schoolhouse. She then attended Cimarron High School where she was Valedictorian. She went on to college at Bethany Nazarene in Oklahoma where she majored in Business Education. While she was at Bethany she met her husband, Mitchell Daugherty.

Ruth and Mitch were married on June 22, 1956, in Garden City, Kansas. They then lived in Hobbs, New Mexico before moving to Pasadena, California in 1961 and finally to Lompoc in 1965.

Ruth was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. After her children were all in school, Ruth went to work as the pastor's secretary at Trinity Church of the Nazarene. She was a faithful servant of Christ Jesus and served in the ministry of the church for the last 59 years. Some of her ministries included Bible study, nursery care and church treasurer.

"When Jesus spoke again, he said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life (John 8:12).'" She truly did walk in his light and those of us who believe in God will see her again in eternity.

In her retirement she enjoyed reading, puzzles and gardening. She was an avid reader and read everything in the church library as well as many books in the public library. She loved gardening and seemed to be able to make anything grow. However, her greatest joy was taking care of her family, whom she loved immensely.

She is survived by her husband Mitchell Daugherty of Lompoc, her children David (Beth) Daugherty of Mesquite, Nevada, Deanna Morehart of Lompoc, Terry (Jessica) Daugherty of Pacifica, California, her grandchildren; Allison (Ryan) Harris, Collin (Allison) Daugherty, Sara (Jeff) Lee, Casey (girlfriend Christina) Morehart, Haley (boyfriend Nathan) Morehart and Marco Daugherty; her great grandchildren, Caleb, Easton, Dylan and Gianna Harris, Liam, Eloise and Margaret Daugherty, Aiden Lee and Jackson Morehart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Leona Bond, brother Glen Bond, sister Doris Kehr and nephew Jim Kehr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 1:00 at Trinity Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 500 E North Ave., Lompoc, CA 93436
