Ruth Elwell of Santa Maria died of natural causes on June 28, 2010. Ruth was born in Wichita, Kansas on November 11, 1923 and was preceded in death by her husband, Hersal Elwell in l980 and her brother, Wilbur Bragg, in 2006.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, July lst at the Santa Maria Four Square Church at Curryer and W. Alvin at 2:00 p.m.

Ruth left behind her son, Ronald Elwell and wife, Pam of Santa Maria, her daughter, Jan Edwards from Grants Pass, Oregon, her son, James Elwell of Santa Maria, her sister, Norma Henry of Beaverton, Oregon, her grandchildren, Jennifer Evans and husband, Scott of Yuba City, CA., grandchildren, Trinton and Megan, her granddaughter, Deanna Elwell of Santa Maria, and her grandson, Brian Elwell and wife Renee of Santa Maria, and great granddaughters, Sydney, Rylee, and Kaylee.

Ruth raised her family in Southern California then retired to Oakhurst, California. She lived in Santa Maria for the
past 25 years, the last two years at Santa Maria Terrace. For many years Ruth enjoyed working as a preschool teacher, helped in varied church activities, had the gift of hospitality, and loved helping her friends with driving, getting groceries, and getting out of the house for pie and coffee in later years.

Ruth was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. We will all miss her presence
but know she is with her Lord in Heaven rejoicing today.
