RUTH DI STEFANO
1934-2008
Her beautiful spirit left us on July 4, 2008. She had fought a long, courageous battle against cancer. Ruth was born August 19, 1934 in Turbingen, Germany, enduring WWII as a child. She studied at the prestigious Heidelberg University prior to moving to the US in 1958 with her husband of 50 years, James. Ruth was an army wife, moving often and finally settling in Lompoc in 1971 upon her husband's retirement. Ruth had many friends and was known for her kind, generous nature and her sense of humor.
Her passions were gardening, flower arranging cooking, shopping, and her poodles. She was no stranger to hard work and was a fierce competitor through the years for the annual Beautification Award. She won everything from first place to honorable mention numerous times. She took great pride in her roses, as well as her beautiful flower arrangements. Ruth loved to entertain friends in her home offering elaborate meals, homemade desserts, and a great cup of coffee. Ruth was known as a stylish dresser, always classy and sophisticated. Ruth donated to many charities throughout the years. She will always be loved and will be missed by both friends and family.
She is survived by her husband James of Lompoc, her daughter Marcella (Marcy) of San Diego, and her brother Kurt of Germany. She was preceded in death by her daughter Anne in 1980 and her beloved poodle Marcus in 2007.
