Sally Rojas Mendez, age 71 of Lompoc, CA, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 29, 1936 to Joe and Rosenda Florez in Denver, CO. She grew up in Colorado where she attended local schools and graduated from high school. In 1965 she married Juan Mendez and together they had three children – Philip, Patricia and Steve. Sally was a devoted family woman, enjoyed camping, and was an avid bowler. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sally is survived by her husband Juan Mendez, son and daughter-in-law Philip and Christi Mendez, daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Dorcy Saucedo, son and daughter-in-law Steve and Kirsten Mendez, brothers Joseph, Tony and Anthony Florez, sister Martha Vargas, 10 grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Rosenda (Rojas) Florez, as well as her brother Simon Florez.
There will be visitation for Sally on Monday, October 8, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel, with an evening vigil at 5:00 p.m. officiated by Monsignor Fitzgerald of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Monsignor Fitzgerald officiating. The interment will take place on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sally's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 604 E. Ocean Ave., Lompoc, CA 93436.
