Obituary

Sara Vitalina Peebles was called to be with the Lord on April 24, 2024 after bravely battling Alzheimer's  disease for many years. Sara was born in Atotonilco el Bajo,  a small village in Jalisco, Mexico to Maria de la Luz Castillo and  J. Guadalupe Guerrero.

During her youth, Sara was inspired by the words of U.S. President John F. Kennedy. She began to feel a strong calling to immigrate to the United States. As a young woman she moved to the border town of Mexicalli to live with relatives. There, she met Harland "Hal" Peebles, an army veteran from Kansas. They were soon married and raised a daughter, Linda.

Mrs. Sara V. Peebles became a permanent U.S. resident in 1974 and resided in California her entire life, including: El Centro, Los Banos, Los Angeles and Solvang.  Sara was the first in her immediate family to permanently  live in the United States. She later proudly became a U.S. citizen.

Throughout her life, Sara was regarded for her superior housekeeping and cooking skills. She always kept a meticulous home and made delicious  meals for her family daily -- except on Sundays. This day was always reserved for worship. Sara was a woman of deep faith and attended mass at her nearest Catholic Church as often as possible.

Mrs. Sara V. Peebles is fondly remembered by her siblings: Amelia Guerrero, Joaquin Guerrero, Susana Brambila, Bertha Alicia Guerrero, Jose Luis Guerrero and Oscar Guerrero. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two sisters, Delia Aguilar and Rosa Guerrero Castillo; as well as nephews, Jaime Guerrero and Jose Castillo.

Sara's beautiful smile and loving hugs are greatly missed by her daughter, Linda Peebles Pliagas, son-in-law, Nikolaos K. Pliagas, and her beloved granddaughter, Lydia Demitria Pliagas.

In addition to her immediate family and siblings, Sara is mourned by many, including her cousin, Teresa Guerrero and family of Kettleman City, California; nephew Gerardo Gomez and family residing in Los Angeles; nephews Oscar Brambila and Ernesto Brambila, niece Jessica Perea and their families in El Centro and San Diego; niece Griselda Guzman and nephew Jorge Alberto Aguilar and their families in Los Angeles; and her siblings' children: Maricela Cortez and Jorge Cortez and their families, who reside in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, plus Luz Elena Preciado and her family in Long Beach; as well as niece Edith Guerrero of Milwaukee.

Mrs. Sara V. Peebles is fondly remember by many other extended family members living in California, Wisconsin and Mexico. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Comprehensive Care Center in Lompoc, California for their wonderful care of Sara in her final years.
