Obituary
Sara Gay Smith of Lompoc died Friday, January 22, 2010, at the age of 47.
Sara was born February 26, 1962, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Leon and Marlene Smith. She graduated from Hart High School in Valencia, California with the class of 1980. In her youth she enjoyed playing volleyball.
A resident of Lompoc since 1988, Sara was a waitress at Baker's Square until it closed last year. She worked on completing her education by attending Allan Hancock College. She was a member of the Lompoc ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Sara is survived by her daughter Katelyn Smith of Lompoc, her father and his wife Leon and Sandra Smith of Lompoc, and her half sister Karen Clark of Madison, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her mother Marlene Smith.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Her family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Lompoc Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1312 West Prune Avenue in Lompoc.
The arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
