Sarah Johnson was born on November 3, 1940, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, to Alberta and Pleasant Henry Johnson. She was raised in Houston, where her faith became an important part of her life at an early age. As a young woman, Sarah served as a Junior Usher and sang in the Youth Choir at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

In 1967, Sarah made Lompoc, California, her home, where she would live for more than five decades. She built a beautiful life there centered around family, faith, hard work, and service. In 2021, Sarah relocated to Mansfield, Texas.

Sarah was a hardworking and accomplished woman. She was the proud owner of Ganees Janitorial and dedicated 30 years of service as a civil service employee at Vandenberg Air Force Base. After many years of commitment and dedication to her career, Sarah retired at the age of fifty-seven.

Faith remained a cornerstone of Sarah’s life. She was a longtime member of Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served and sang in the choir for many years. Her love of music and worship brought her immense joy and allowed her to share her faith with those around her.

Sarah had a love for life and especially enjoyed traveling, gardening, and cooking. Her kitchen was a place where love was expressed through food, laughter, and fellowship. Christmas was an especially meaningful time for Sarah. She loved preparing large holiday meals and having a house filled with family and friends. For Sarah, there was nothing better than bringing the people she loved together around the table.

Sarah treasured her family. She was the loving mother of five children: Henry Johnson and his wife, Lizabeth Johnson; Victor Johnson; Vincent Johnson (preceded her in death); Sarah Yates and her husband, Henry Yates; and Corwin Stone and his wife, Angela Stone.

Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Through these generations, Sarah leaves behind a beautiful family who loved her dearly.

Sarah’s 85 years of life were filled with faith, family, hard work, laughter, good food, travel, music, and cherished memories. She will be remembered for the life she built, the family she loved, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.

Though Sarah will be deeply missed, the love, traditions, lessons, and memories she gave her family will continue to live on for generations.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain in our hearts forever.
