Selina was born April 1, 1982 in Santa Maria to Elvira Lopez and Marcelino Bustos. She attended Lompoc High School and graduated with the class of 2000. Selina then went to earn three Associate of Arts degrees at Allan Hancock College and transferred to Antioch University Santa Barbara in fall of 2011 where she was pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She had been working at Acceptance Insurance in Lompoc for the last 12 years. Selina was as a Eucharistic Minister at La Purisima Church, and served the church by giving Communion. She participated in a prayer group since 1999 and has stayed involved in her church since.
Selina was the youngest of three sisters. Her two older sisters are Elvira Bustos-Martinez of Lompoc and Adriana Hernandez, who currently llives in Mexico. Selina and Elvira were best of friends and life companions. Elvira's children were loved by Selina as if they were her own. They meant the world to her.
Selina was a daddy's girl. She was always the one making sure her dad took his daily medicine. Selina and her mother had more than a mother-daughter relationship. She was her mother's companion and friend. Often both of them would just leave the house and spend time with each other, and it didn't matter where they went as long as they were together.
She enjoyed hiking and dancing. She was learning to play the guitar and one of her lifetime goals was to learn to play the piano. She loved to go out of town with her mom, sister, nephews and brother in-law and just spend the day shopping and appreciating life. One of her favorite things to do was to take trips to Mexico to see her abuelitos (grandparents). Her grandparents were anxiously waiting to see her on Sunday, June 17th, 2012 due to Selina's plans to leave to Mexico the weekend her death occurred. Little did they know that Selina was already in God's arms being carried into the gates of heaven.
The love for her family and the drive to earn her educational degree above many were the top priorities in her life. Her smile, so charismatic and angelic made her such a likable woman in all aspects. She was beautiful inside and out. The same smile is now that of an angel watching down on her family and friends from the heavens above. She was touched by God and was given wings to fly away from the pain and sorrow on this earth. May God bless her family and keep Selina in his eternal glory.
"Love as long as you live, laugh as much as you breath," was one of Selina's favorite quotes.
Selina is survived by her grandparents Silverio and Maria Soledad Lopez, Jesus and Guadalupe Bustos, parents Marcelino and Elvira Bustos, sisters Elvira Bustos-Martinez and Adriana Hernandez, nephews Gabriel and Andres Martinez, brother in-law Hector Martinez, numerous nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and adopted family the Tamayo's.
