Sharon Marie LeRoy was born June 2, 1960 in Ventura, California and passed away

peacefully in her sleep on September 4, 2026, at Atterdag Care Center, Solvang,

California.

Sharon graduated from Lompoc High School in 1978 and studied early childhood

education at Allan Hancock College. In high school, Sharon helped her mom, Cynthia

LeRoy with meetings for the youth development organization Camp Fire. She earned

her Wo He Lo medallion, the highest award in Camp Fire, in 1977.

Her working career included being a waitress at Round Table Pizza, cashier at Mission

Hills Market from 1984 to 1988 and then a miner/packer at Lompoc Johns-Manville,

Celite, and later Imerys from 1988 to 2021. Sharon retired from there after 33 years and

10 months.

Sharon was deeply involved with Camp Fire and led many groups simultaneously for

over 40 years. Tie-dying was always a fun craft each year, and some of her Camp Fire

members earned their own Wo He Lo medallion! They learned about committing to

long-term projects and developing independence. Each year, Sharon kept very busy

helping kids sell Camp Fire candy, spending her weekends going from storefront to

storefront supporting her "kids" in their sales efforts. They gained great confidence

through setting goals and learning common courtesy and sales skills.

The Lompoc Flower Festival was a long-time Camp Fire tradition where they sold corn

on the cob. She was very dedicated to her Camp Fire kids, who learned about

volunteering, rules, and teamwork.

Each year, Sharon planned Camp Cielo, a weekend camp in the mountains near Lopez

Lake for all the area Camp Fire kids. She always had great fun planning a surprise

animal theme for the weekend. The kids would be thrilled trying to guess what animal

she had chosen. The first night after the kids were asleep, she'd place out at least a

hundred items featuring the same animal—stuffed animals, pictures, games, pencils,

and more. The kids loved it.

For years, Sharon organized the Lompoc Camp Fire Halloween Carnival, a beloved

community event. When the Carnival ended, Sharon brought the fun home with a

haunted house display that became a popular Lompoc tradition, with long lines of

people waiting to see all the displays.

Sharon was active at St. Mary's Episcopal Church of Lompoc, where she served in

multiple roles, including membership in the Martha's Group, the Kitchen Guild, and the

Episcopal Young Churchmen group.

She was also an Area Coordinator for Lompoc Cultural Homestay International from

2010 to 2022, helping to place and support foreign exchange students. Each year,

Sharon hosted two exchange students, forming lifelong friendships with them and their

families from around the world. Whether attending Bunco groups, hosting fun

Christmas cookie exchange parties, or fundraising for cancer research through Relay

for Life, Sharon remained active and engaged in her community.

After years of seeking answers, Sharon was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy,

Cerebellar type (MSA-C). She was adamant about sharing the correct name of her

condition, as she felt it was important for others to understand what she was

experiencing. Even after her diagnosis, with its prognosis of a shortened lifespan,

Sharon would say, "I'm okay with it."

Sharon spent her final year at Atterdag Care Center in Solvang, maintaining her sense

of humor and grace while accepting her physical limitations. Her family and friends

provided wonderful support through her final days.

Sharon is survived by her brothers Mike (Kathy) and Andrew LeRoy, her stepmother

Karma LeRoy, and her treasured nephews, nieces, and great-nieces and greatnephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Tom and her parents Cynthia and

Charles. Sharon was a devoted friend who was always there when needed. She had a

genuine love for life and for people, especially children, and will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 2800 Harris Grade

Road in Lompoc, on October 31, 2026 at 11 a.m with reception to follow. Her service

will also be available live via St. Mary’s Episcopal Church’s Facebook page (https://

www.facebook.com/groups/346877052316). It is fitting that Sharon's memorial falls on

Halloween, one of her favorite holidays!
