Sharon Diane Wittmann passed away into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 15, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at the Valley of the Flowers United Church of Christ on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 1 pm. Pastors Bill Nelson and Henry Yates will officiate.
Sharon was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, on July 29, 1958, the youngest of three children. She had a strong independence, determination and passion for living with boldness. She graduated from Cabrillo High School where she was a cheerleader. Graduating from Santa Barbara Business College, she entered a program at Irvine Medical Center where she became a certified surgical technician.
Sharon loved gardening and had many beautiful flowers and vegetables. She loved to read good books, watch Christian videos and "I Love Lucy." Sharon was a devout Christian, often attending three services on Sundays as well as a Bible study at least once a week. She had a large collection of VHS tapes and CDs, all related to Bible history, which she preferred to soaps and other offerings. She taught Sunday school to children and was the church's financial secretary. She worked with CASA and was committed to making a difference in the lives of children. She strove to be a kind person, one who was warm hearted, kind, gentle, forgiving and loving.
Sharon was preceded in death by her former husband William Wittmann and is survived by her son William "Bill" Wittmann and his wife Carrie, her granddaughter Melody Rose of Santa Ana, her parents David and Carol Miley of Lompoc, a sister Rhonda Dietrich of Lompoc, her brother David Lee Miley and his wife Jane of Tybee Island, Georgia, her niece Sadie, nephews David and Daniel and his wife Kasey and grandnephews Daniel and Kessler.
In lieu of flowers, please remember how uplifting and caring Sharon was and do the same for a friend, neighbor, coworker or a stranger, as a tribute to Sharon's life.
Sharon's family extends a thank you to her hospice nurses and special thanks to three friends for all the care and comfort they provided during Sharon's final days - Nyla Simmons, Sarah Yates and Maggie Perales.
