Shirley Lou Dalcerri, age 69, died peacefully at her home in Lompoc on Thursday, June 4, 2009.
Shirley was born on April 28, 1940, to Elmer Dodd and Lou Ellen Beck Linden in Paso Robles, CA. She lived in various towns throughout California until 1952 when her family settled in Lompoc. Shirley graduated from Lompoc High School in 1958. A couple days after graduating, she married the man who would become her sweetheart for more than 50 years, Louis Dalcerri, on June 7, 1958.
In addition to being a homemaker and caring for her four children, Shirley was a bookkeeper and secretary for their family business, Dalcerri Inc., for twenty years. During the early 1980's, Shirley and her daughter, Denise, owned and operated a local woman's apparel store, Silver Threads.
Shirley enjoyed camping with family and friends, traveling all over the United States and British Columbia. Shirley was an avid reader and loved to meet with her book club. She liked to spend time playing games such as cards, dominoes, and puzzles. She especially took pleasure playing in her bridge group. It was always easy to talk her into a trip to a casino where she was fond of playing the slots.
Shirley volunteered at the Lompoc Hospital and the Lompoc Library. She was also a member of the Lompoc Foursquare Church.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Louis, her son and his wife, Darryl and Susan; her son, Michael; her daughter and husband, Shannon and Gary Wells, Colfax, CA; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Ashley), Parker, CO, Jason, Arroyo Grande, CA, Garrett and Morgan; one great-grandson, Gavin, Parker, CO; two brothers, Richard Linden, Mount Shasta, CA and Gary Linden, Lakehead, CA. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise.
Shirley's service was held on June 10, 2009, at the Lompoc Foursquare Church officiated by Pastor Bernie Federmann with a reception that followed at the Schuyler River Bottom. Shirley's interment is at the Lompoc Cemetery.
