Shirley Ann (Ference) DeVaux of Lompoc passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12th. Born to Timothy and Eva Ference on July 9, 1936 in Monaca, PA, Shirley had been a resident of Lompoc Valley for over 50 years, where she worked for a long period of time at Binnie's Beauty Salon and PJ's Deli before dedicating her life to her husband and home.

In 1954, she entered into wedlock with Richard A. DeVaux for which the blessed couple had just recently celebrated 55 years of dedicated matrimony. They moved together with his military career and were eventually stationed at Camp Cook, later Vandenberg Air Force Base, in 1957.

Shirley had several passions including cooking, reading, shopping, and friendships, but her greatest pride came through the love and care she gave her husband and family. A master of domestic management and cuisine, she always made a warm, loving and welcoming environment to guests and family alike. There was never a family gathering that she wasn't planning or cooking.

Shirley is survived by her husband Richard of Lompoc and her children, daughter Linda Rene of Nipomo, son Richard Arlen II of Colorado Springs, David Paul (Lynn) of Lompoc, and Robert William (Caireen) of Cedar Rapids, IA as well as 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Ronald Ference of Monaca, PA, Leonard Ference of Dillsburg, PA and Robert Ference of Lompoc and her sister Delores McPeek of Beaver, PA.

A viewing will be held at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Thursday, April 16th from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held at the New Life Christian Center, 816 North "C" Street at 1pm on Friday April 17th. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donation be made to the New Life Christian Center.
