November 10, 1928 to June 19, 2014

Shirley Rose, 85, passed away Thursday evening with the family at the Comprehensive Convalescent Care Center.

Shirley was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania "Home of the Horse Shoe Curve" to Helen and Elmer Yon.

She was an active child working her way through Altoona High School where she graduated with a vocational certification in stenography. In 1947, she started working at the Pentagon as a clerk typist. After induction into the Women's Air Corp in 1950, Shirley began a 4 year tour stationed in Germany where in her off time she traveled all over Europe. In 1955 she returned stateside to work on Mather AFB in Sacramento where she met her husband Glenn Rose. In the ensuing years, Shirley and Glenn traveled from several duty stations throughout Southeast Asia and the Marshall Islands. Upon returning to California and settling in Lompoc, Shirley began her 20 year career in 1969 with Civil Service as a Public Relations Secretary on VAFB.

Shirley is survived by her two sons Mark and Darrell with four grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.

She requested no services and a private inurnment will be at a later date.
