Sidney Ross Carmean passed away at his home Wednesday, March 25, 2009. He is survived by wife Letha Mae Carmean of Lompoc, brother Clark Carmean of Lompoc, sons David Carmean of Hayward, John "Jack" Carmean of San Francisco and Douglas Carmean and wife PJ of Santa Barbara, and one granddaughter Margo Ross Carmean of Santa Barbara.
He was born in Manchester, IL, to Frank and Cora Carmean on June 25, 1933. A grandson of a Union Soldier, he held the rank of Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He worked on the Distant Early Warning (DEW) line at Forbisher Bay, Canada, beginning a 35-year career with ITT/Federal Electric Corporation. Mr. Carmean was a sports fan and computer enthusiast.
A public viewing will be held Friday, March 27, 2009, from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Starbuck-Lind Chapel. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 10 am in the Starbuck-Lind Chapel with interment following the service at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
