IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sidney Herbert
Shears
February 14, 1913 – September 3, 2018
Sidney Herbert Shears "Herb" was born on February 14, 1913, in Rochester, NY, and passed away at his home in Lompoc, CA, on September 3, 2018.
Herb was a kind and gentle man who loved to golf and to play cards with friends. He said that after he and his wife, Ethna "Kelly" moved to Lompoc, they played golf "every day until I was 99 years old".
Reverend S.H. Shears served as a Navy Chaplain on the U.S.S. Midway with the Pacific Fleet before he became ordained as an Episcopal Priest
Herb was extremely grateful for his wonderful caregiver and friend, Juanita Guerrero and her family who tenderly and tirelessly cared for him for the last 15 years of his life. He was also grateful for his friends at the Mission Club and the Sage Restaurant, especially the wonderful Chef Chris Jones. Herb Shears was truly appreciative of the professional and compassionate care of Dr. Rollin Bailey, MD.
Captain Sidney Herbert Shears will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
