Sophia Unzueta Brennen, 44, went home to the Lord on April 22, 2011 in the presence of her loving family after a sudden illness. Born on August 31, 1966 in Santa Barbara, Sophia attended local schools and was the eldest of Ramon and Maria Unzueta's four daughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Brennen, Sr. and survived by fiancé Arturo Chaves. Sophia is survived by her six sons, Edward Jr., Brian, Joseph, Robert, George, Arturo, Jr. and three grandsons, Edward III, Adam and Angel. One could say that she met the unique calling of her life in loving and caring for her many sons who will forever remember the many meals she cooked for them and the fun moments. Despite a life of many hardships, Sophia was a gentle soul whose life reflected the Christlike virtues of unconditional love, respect, patience and sacrifice.

Her final years were filled with much physical challenges and pain but it did not deter her from keeping her family together. Sophia, we will remember you for your beautiful smile, warm generosity, your contagious laughter and we will forever miss you.

Visitation will take place at Starbuck Lind Mortuary in Lompoc, Thursday May 12th, 4:00 - 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday on Friday, May 13th, 10:00 am at La Purisima Catholic Church in Lompoc, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Barbara.
