Sophie Navarrette
1923 – 2008
Sophie was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on September 28, 1923. She was one of 12 siblings. Sophie married Joe Chavez Navarrette on February 14, 1944. They were the proud parents of three daughters and two sons. Sophie died July 18, 2008 at the age of 84 in the comfort of her home in Lompoc surrounded by her loved ones.
Sophie will always be remembered by all for her loving and caring ways, for her wonderful cooking, playful personality and her "ability" to play cards.
Sophie is loved and will be missed by her daughters, Mary Terrones, JoHelen White and Anna Marie Boehmke, son, Michael Joe Navarrette and son-in-law, Lupe Terrones, seven grandsons, eight granddaughters, 11 great grandsons, 11 great granddaughters and a great grandchild due in 2009, a great-great granddaughter due in August and a great-great grandson due in September. Sophie is also survived by six sisters, Angie, Lila, Connie, Flavia, Fina, Elsie and numerous nieces and nephews.
Waiting Sophie's arrival at the Gates of Heaven are her husband, infant son, both parents, four brothers, one sister and numerous loved ones.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, from 4-7pm with the Rosary at 6:00 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Father Tom Cook will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 11:00 am at La Purisima Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
