At his request, private graveside services will be held at a later date for Stanley C. Dover, 84, of Lompoc.
Stanley was born April 3, 1927 in Santa Barbara to Frank and Mary Dover. He attended Lompoc High and in 1946 commenced service in the Unites States Army at Adak Station in Alaska. He worked at Johns-Manville Corp. for 39 years and retired with the position of heavy equipment supervisor. Stanley was a volunteer with Catholic Charities Food Bank. He was also Past Commander of the American Legion Post 211 and a Charter Member and five year Trustee of the Lompoc Elks Lodge. His favorite past times included hunting and fishing.
He died Thursday, May 12, 2011at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara of cancer.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Virginia J. Dover; brothers, Frank Dover and Bernard Dover and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Lorraine Regis, Louise Luis, Connie Tomasini, Barbara Beaver and brothers Reg Dover and Ed Dover.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to a charity of choice.
