Lompoc native Stanley J. Williams Sr, 94, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Lompoc Skilled & Rehab Center.
Stan lived most of his life in Lompoc, and was a Lompoc High graduate. He farmed for 20 years in the Lompoc Valley and moved to Red Bluff, California in the late 1940's where he operated a dairy for twelve years. Stan returned to Lompoc in 1960, and began working at Vancon, Inc. as a senior mechanic and then went to work at Lompoc Transit Mix. He retired as a truck supervisor in 1981. In his earlier years, Stan enjoyed hunting and fishing, and more recently he enjoyed reading and computer games. He was a long time member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge 248 and the Lompoc Elks Lodge 2274.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mary Ethel of Lompoc; son Stanley "Skoot" Williams, Jr. (Carol) of Oroville, Calif.; grandchildren Chris Williams and Kathy Nissen (Mark); great grandchildren Madi and Mark and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by sister Irma Grossini in 2001 and daughter Janet Rios in 2004.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
