Steve Dalton passed away at his home in Lompoc on June 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.  Steve will be truly missed by all those fortunate enough to know him—he was generous in nature and never hesitated to help someone in need.

Steve was born on June 14, 1936, in Bakersfield, CA, to Douglas and Ruth Dalton. He graduated from Garces High School and attended Santa Clara University. He married the love of his life, Sue Linden, and they began their married life together in May 1956. They had three sons, Kirk, Greg and Jeff, whom they raised in Lompoc.

Steve worked at Lindens of Lompoc furniture store for over 30 years. In 1991, the decision was made to move to the Bay area to join his eldest son in business at Surface Solutions Innovations. Sue followed him in 1996 after selling The Sue Dalton School of Ballet to a former student, and Steve remained in the Bay area until his retirement in 2009.

Steve was a passionate soul and put his all into everything he did. He coached in the Village Hills Little League baseball and Lompoc Youth football programs. Steve was artistic and hand painted all the backdrops used by his wife for her biennial ballet recitals. He was also a beekeeper through various times in his life and amassed over 50 hives at the height of his beekeeping days and passed with 3 active hives; however, Steve was probably most passionate about scuba diving off the coast of Santa Barbara and spent many years hunting lobster and halibut with friends, sons and grandsons.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Sue, his parents and sister, Donna. He is survived by his sons Kirk (Sherri), Greg (Catherine), Jeff (Christina) and grandchildren Megan Hird (Keenan), Conor (Lizzie), Justin (Casey), Lauren, Parker (Ashley), Stephen (Aly) and Chase (Ashley), as well as, great grandchildren Stella Hird, Bentley Hird, Colt Dalton, Jace Dalton, and Layla Dalton, brother Danny (Debbie) and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Steve's memory to your most favored charity.

A 'Celebration of Life' for Steve will be held at The Village Inn located at 3955 Apollo Way, Lompoc on Saturday, 28 June 2025 from 1 pm – 3 pm.
