Loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle Stephen Edward Jancek was born on January 30, 1947, to Marjorie and Stephen Jancek in Hackensack, New Jersey. After a two-year battle with cancer, he passed away at the age of 63 on July 4, 2010, at his home in Lompoc, with his wife Marie and daughters Rebecca Jancek-Hansen and Megan Jancek-Richards by his side.

He is also survived by his mother Marjorie Marie Jancek, sisters, Donna Marie Bradley, Mary Margaret Hofeld, and Alane Denies Bumatay, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Stephen was an avid cook and photographer, earning his Master's in Film from San Francisco State. After spending time in the Middle East as a photographer for King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, he and his family repatriated to the states where he earned his Master's in Special Education from Chapman University. He then spent 20 years teaching children with special needs at Cabrillo Sr. High School, Buena Vista Elementary, and La Purisima Catholic School.
