Steve Keys, 58, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 12, 2023, at his home in Lompoc.

Steve was born September 18, 1964, in Rantoul, IL to Gene and Karin Keys. He was raised primarily in Lompoc. Steve was a 1982 Lompoc High School graduate and received his BS degree in Project Management from Colorado Technical University.

Steve served honorably for 20 years, 2/1984 to 3/2004, in the United States Air Force and was deployed during the Gulf War/Desert Storm, and also served in Korea and Germany. Following his military retirement, he went to work for SERCO - North America Inc. in Colorado.  After moving back to Lompoc, he worked for L3 Communications Inc., Data Computer Corporation of America (DCCA), and Northrop Grumman.

Steve had a passion for bowling, softball, fishing, the Dodgers, and his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Steve is survived by his mother Karin Keys, sister Melissa Upright, and nephew RJ Upright of Orcutt.

In honor of his request, no services will be held. Cremation will be followed by private inurnment. The arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
