Steven Robert Lietz of Vandenberg Village passed away Monday, September 18, 2006 near Lake Nacimiento in Paso Robles at the age of 46. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 28, and the funeral service will be on Friday, September 29, at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc. Chaplain Ken Brown of the Twin Cities Hospital will officiate. Cremation will be followed by private inurnment.

Steven was born December 2, 1959 to Robert and Mary Lietz in Los Angeles. He has been a resident of Lompoc for the last eight years.

Steve worked in road construction for a total of 25 years starting with Western Oil Spreading services based in Santa Paula. He worked in every phase of road construction, as a foreman, a superintendent, an estimator, and for the last three years as the owner of his own company, Asphalt Related Services.

Steve has been a member of the Santa Maria Valley Contractors Association for the last three years, and was a coach for Village Hills Little League for the past five years.

Steven is survived by his wife of 20 years, Cindy Lietz of Lompoc; daughter, Lindsay (age 19); sons, Kevin (age 12) and Brett (age 11); brother, Chris Lietz; sister and brother-in-law, Cariline and Bill Balderman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Carol Chapek of North Dakota; and brother-in-law, Jeff Chapek.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lietz Children Education Fund at any branch of Santa Barbara Bank & Trust.
