Obituary

Stuart Dodds, son of the late Frank and Ethel Dodds, passed away March 27, 2008, at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.

Stuart was born April 11, 1925, in New York City, New York. Following his service in the US Navy during World War II, he came to Lompoc in 1946 and graduated from Lompoc High School with the class of 1948. He later served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Stuart worked as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1981 after 31 years of service. After his retirement, he continued to work in the hardware department of Moore's Department Store.

Stuart was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the American Legion, and the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation.

Stuart loved his family, his friends, and his church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Edith McGregor, and his brother, Donald Dodds.

Stuart leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Beverly Dodds; his daughters, Jennifer Dodds of Lompoc and Terri (John) Korpal of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; his daughter-in-law Gale Dodds of Lompoc; his son Kim (Micki) Dodds of Alturas, California; his five grandchildren, Kyle (Robyn) Dodds of Lompoc, Kelly (Jessica) Dodds of San Miguel, California, Stacey (Cory) Landon of Lompoc, and Matthew and Jamie Korpal of Fort Collins, Colorado. He also leaves behind his seven-month old great grandson, Bradyn Thomas Dodds, of Lompoc.

A memorial service will be held April 4, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lompoc.
