Obituary

Susan Vickery, 54, of Lompoc passed away peacefully on December 3, 2012 in her home surrounded by family and friends. She fought a long and courageous battle against cancer for the last 13 years. Susan was born on October 29, 1958 to John and Rebecca Ochoa of Lompoc. A native of Lompoc, she attended Fillmore Elementary and Lompoc Junior High and was a 1976 graduate of Lompoc High School. Susan was employed at Foster's Restaurant through out high school and a short time after. She then became a homemaker and a mother of four. Susan was active in every aspect of her children's life. She enjoyed coaching girl's softball as well as watching her daughters and son play sports. She most recently enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. She became a true Dodger Fan. Susan enjoyed going to Dodger games, camping, shopping, family gatherings, and you could always catch her in the kitchen cooking up some of the most delicious foods or side dishes. She enjoyed going to the movies with her and grandkids. She loved going on family trips, Disneyland being one of her favorites. Susan loved spending time with her family and friends. She visited every state west of Mississippi. One of her most favorite things to do was to decorate her home for every holiday.

Susan is survived by her loving husband Tony Vickery of 31 years and daughters Melissa (Rick) Salinas, Cristina Vickery (Joseph Campos), Brianna Vickery, son Tony Vickery, Jr., grandchildren, Ricky Salinas, Darek Vickery, Alyssa Salinas, Isabella Campos, and mother Rebecca Ochoa and sisters Anna Chavez, Rosie Ochoa and brothers Raul, John, and Ralph Ochoa, and numerous nieces, nephews all of Lompoc.

Susan was preceded in death by her father John Ochoa.

The Vickery family would like to thank Dr. Abate and all the kind staff at Sansum Clinic, and the nursing staff at 6 central Cottage Hospital for the special care of Susan.

A vigil service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence Santos celebrating.

Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
