Tammy Elaine Martin passed away on February 12, 2015 following a brief illness. Tammy was born on July 2, 1958, at March Air Force Base, California. She graduated from Lompoc High School in 1976, and held a distinguished 40-year Civil Service career working at Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB). Tammy's career began as a cashier at the VAFB Commissary. She was promoted to medical records clerk position at the VAFB Hospital. Tammy transitioned into clerical work when she was promoted to secretary for the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) Shuttle program at Vandenberg AFB. Tammy advanced to her most recent position as secretary to the 14th Air Force (14 AF) commander, and served as secretary to several distinguished generals at 14 AF over the years. Tammy was enjoying her tenure with the current commander,
Lieutenant General Raymond, at the time of her passing.
Tammy is survived by her mother, Betty Flynn; her two sisters, Donna Martin (Carl) Phillips and Angela Martin; her best friend of 40 years, Lana Davenport; her "adopted" sister and niece, Tami Myers and Liliana Magneson-Gutierrez; maternal aunt and uncle: Faye Allen, Judy Faust Green, and Alex Faust; paternal uncle Daniel (Victoria) Flynn ; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins. Tammy is preceded in death by her step-father, William Flynn.
In addition to her family, Tammy is survived by many friends and co-workers, including long-time friends Lucy Rocha, Felix Arias, and Robert L'Heureux. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Tammy's 14 AF "family," headed by Jay and Mollie Raymond, for their outpouring of love and support.
Services will be held at the Lompoc Cemetery on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at 1 pm. There will also be a celebration of life memorial service at VAFB Chapel on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at 10 am.
