On Monday, April 17, 2023, beloved child, sibling, grand-child, cousin, and friend of the community, Taurean "Tauri" Lloyd Todd departed this earth at the age of twenty-eight.

Taurean could always be described as creative and artistic from an early age. They were constantly tinkering with and fixing little toys and trinkets, loved to create stop animation films with clay figurines, and developed an interest in playing the drums and making music during their elementary and middle school years.

Taurean graduated from Cabrillo High School in 2012 and went on to study graphic design and glass blowing at the California College of the Arts in Oakland. They had a passion for art, and were particularly skilled in illustrating their creative ideas and working with their hands, like their father and grandfather before them.

Taurean studied and practiced Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and was a competitive fighter who approached their training with discipline and determination. They worked consistently to improve and to teach self-defense awareness in the LGBTQIA+ and differently-abled communities, where they cultivated a host of friends who deeply loved and supported them. Taurean enjoyed skateboarding, taking long walks and hikes, reading books about subjects like socioeconomic theory, quantum physics, and engaging in deeply thoughtful conversations.

Taurean had a heart for the less fortunate and was always focused on taking action to be a force of positive change in their communities. In Oakland, Taurean often volunteered to provide food and protection for the unhoused communities they shared neighborhoods with, and was a fierce advocate for social justice and against police brutality. This compassionate world view led Taurean to cultivate a host of friends who deeply loved their vibrant personality and contagious laugh.

Taurean is survived by their parents, Lloyd and Cheri Todd; their sibling, Daren Todd; their grandmother, Lucille Simmons; their great-aunt, Rena Mae Davis; their aunts Sandra Jones, Cheryl Todd, Diane Todd, Lisa Todd, Pam Todd, Donna Todd, Leander Miller, Rosalind Porter (Melvin), many many cousins, their partners Alex and Katin, and their friends and community in Oakland who loved them dearly.

Please join us in celebrating the life of Taurean "Tauri" Todd at Events Mission Valley, 138 North B Street, Lompoc, CA on Friday, April 28th from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.
