IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terry
Larson
September 25, 1954 – December 18, 2024
Terry Larson, Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, scholar, teacher, Sister in Christ, and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 18, 2024. Terry celebrated her 70th birthday this September and in July, the 50 year anniversary of marriage to her best friend and husband, Paul. Milestones she pressed towards even during the recent years of challenging physical decline and a twelve year progression of Atypical Parkinsonism, also known as Multiple System Atrophy.
Terry and Paul attended Westmont together where she attained a bachelor's degree in History and Sociology and graduated with her teaching credential, later earning a Masters degree in Early Child Development. Terry's passion and vocation was teaching children and bettering young lives through education. Her talent and love for music and the guitar brought joy through song to hundreds of children each week during her nearly 3 decades at La Honda Elementary School in Lompoc, 20 years as a first grade teacher. Terry was a mentor teacher and a specialist engaged at the State level for language arts curriculum. She brought this to every part of her role as a grandmother in her later years while simultaneously facing the progression of MSAP with Paul at her side.
During her decline she showed no fear, and leaned on God's promises in scripture. She found Joy and a deeper understanding of God's provision. Terry had a wonderful countenance and was sweet to us all, a privilege to be with, throughout her journey. To the very end, Terry's personality, sharp intellect, wit, humor and grace shined through her physical limitations. Terry is survived by her husband Paul, daughter Tori Duran (sons Roman and Eli and husband Gabe) and daughter Abbe Treat (children Levi and Emmie and husband Neil). We have been richly blessed by her life and love!
The Memorial Service for Terry will be on Friday morning, January 3, at 10 am at the Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church, 1825 Alamo Pintado Rd. Solvang, CA 93463.
