On January 9, 2008, long-time Lompoc fixture and character, Terry Stouch, passed away. Terry has been at Casa De Vida in San Luis Obispo for the past few years. Before his move to Casa De Vida, he walked the streets of Lompoc everyday stopping to chat with all who made time for his wit and his take on local gossip.
Terry never submitted to his lifetime multiple disabilities, handicaps, and crippling pain, or allowed them to stop him from his appointed tasks. He was upbeat and optimistic no matter what was happening in his life. He wasn't known for truth telling, but he was noted for being a most loyal friend. He was generous beyond his means to those he saw less fortunate than himself, and preferred making up his shortfall at the harmless expense of those who could afford it.
Before his advanced Parkinson's stopped him, Terry worked at Had Berger's Sunset Chevrolet as a lot and vehicle-prep person; his last and happiest job was driving his lawyer's limousine.
Terry is survived by his brother Joe of Palmdale, and his sister Linda of Portland. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Willie, both colorful Lompoc characters in their own right. Terry's parents, John and Frances, also preceded him in death.
Graveside services and testimony will be held at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 3:30 p.m.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
